Namibia – the future energy hub of Africa
Oil, Gas and Renewables
Presented by
Anders Damgaard, Energy Transition Specialist at DTU
(former Maersk Oil and Total)
Sergio Ferreira, Senior Energy Advisor specialized in Africa
February 22 EnergiESbjerg was hosting a presentation by Anders Damgaard, Energy Transition Specialist at DTU and Sergio Ferreira, Senior Energy Advisor on the business opportunities in Namibia for the Esbjerg energy industry.
Namibia has a small population of 2,6 million people with no experience with the energy industry. They have the ambition to develop an oil, gas and renewables industry in the country and are about to embark on the same journey, that took place as Esbjerg developed into the energy capital of Denmark.
Namibian offshore oil and gas discoveries by Total Energies and Shell are of commercial quantities, likely in the billions of barrels. Further, Namibia is poised to become the renewable energy hub of Africa. The country is looking to attract companies to support build and operate infrastructures as well support services companies in the energy sector.
