At this online technical lecture, Kenneth Jørgensen took us through a presentation on the concept development and production unit under construction for the project ‘District Heating for the Future’, conducted by DIN Forsyning. The project emerged as a result of Ørsted’s decision to stop the ESV3 coal fired combined heat power plant, which meant that DIN Forsyning will cease heat delivery by April 1, 2023. Therefore, a process was initiated to find a new 500.000MWh/year reliable cheap heat source. Different alternatives have been investigated from expanding the existing waste to energy plant and building a highly effective wood chips fired combined heat and power plant to the present combination of different technologies. In the spring of 2019, DIN Forsyning decided to build and operate the new production unit located on Esbjerg Havn.
