Tyra Redevelopment

Building Denmark’s high-tech hub for natural gas production

Presented by

Michael Lindholm Pihl Larsen
Technical Project Leader Tyra Redevelopment, TotalEnergies EP Denmark

March 19 EnergiESbjerg hosted a presentation by Michael Pihl Larsen, Technical Project Leader Tyra Development, TotalEnergies EP Denmark, on the redevelopment of the Tyra field.

For decades the Tyra field has been a center for more than 90% of Danish gas production in the North Sea. In September 2019, the production from Denmark’s largest gas field has been suspended to enable its redevelopment. Since then, the old facilities were removed and recycled, and eight new platforms were constructed and successfully installed offshore. In the grand finale of the redevelopment, the team works diligently on preparing the restart and ramp-up of the production.

In this technical lecture, the attendees gained interesting insights into building one of the most advanced gas fields in the world, Tyra II, and learned about its importance in contributing to Danish and European energy independence.
